Golden eggs... are gold...

People are strange. Have you noticed that?
It's not something that I've recently discovered and I suppose it's not all that revolutionary. But every once in a while it seems more prevalent then usual and now is one of those times.

Human nature is an odd thing.

Like the concept of wanting things we can't have, or not wanting things until we think we can't have them, which of course makes us want it more than anything else in the world.

It's true isn't it? Of course it is. Does it make sense?

Probably not.

But that doesn't keep it from being true. Our society as a whole doesn't seem to function with the purpose of making sense. That's the reason it is 'society' perhaps. It's the reason such a thing has flourished for so long, because people try to make sense of what's going on and what you end up with is what we call society. Kind of like a mixed average of the individual opinion. It's the foundation of being "politically correct." Which in itself of course doesn't make a whole lot of sense either. What is the criteria for being politically correct anyway?

Individual opinion, right? Is that not what the concept of being "politically correct" wishes to ameliorate or avoid? It's almost laughable.

When I was a kid I used to think I didn't understand adults and adult concepts because I was well...a kid. But the closer I get to adulthood, I'm beginning to realize that it wasn't because I was a kid that I didn't understand adults, maybe it was because they weren't meant to be understood.

Number one...

We all get older don't we? It's inevitable. It's the progression of life. You know, when I was 5, I wanted to write a book. Didn't we all, huh? But it was going to be different; because in it I would put all the things that adults did that I liked, or didn't like. It was going to be for future reference so that I could know what to do, and what not to do when I 'grew up.' I laugh when I think about it, because I never did get around to writing it. But I still look at what adults do, what people in general do, regardless of age. And I think that about that list, that book. A list of things to watch out for when I get older, things that adults before me have not quite gotten the hang of. I want to start that list now. I think it's going to start with empathy. Empathy and compassion are two of the hardest things to give someone. It consists of walking into someone else's shoes and looking at things from their point of view, taking into consideration how they might feel or what they're going through. Imagine that. Sounds like what your parents tried to teach you when you were in kindergarden. But how many adults really do it? It's really hard to do, I'll give you that. But it makes such a big difference. Thinking of others makes a big difference.
By nature, we're a pretty selfish race of human beings. We want so much what will make us happy, that we tend to forget that the person beside us, may actually have feelings too.
Empathy, the understanding of children before they're yelled at. To take in what they're feeling before trying to instill a lesson. The understanding of someone who acts unkindly toward us, someone who acts strangely, someone who frusterates us to no end. The understanding of others, and ourselves.
1. Empathy

Golden Eggs...

Velcro! That means 'welcome' in "Unamunda." *If you are not familiar with Unamunda, do not be alarmed--it is not important*
What is important right now is, well, life. I do hope you're enjoying life right now. If you are not, my sympathies, and may this little "golden egg" in a far corner of the internet bring you a slice of a smile for the 1.53 minutes it may take you to read this. It is my intention to insert here, the musings of the goose (that's me!) which I will entitle, "golden eggs" or in other words, little pieces of wisdom I may come across in this vast journey we call life. It's not really "philosophy" although you could call it that. I prefer musings which is why it is entitled thus. I'm sure by now you're chuckling at my ramblings and shaking your head because in a way, it really does make sense. So before you quickly approach boredom I will let your mouse wander to other more exciting locations. Be sure to check in for more "golden eggs" and musings.

"Truly, you have a dizzying intellect."--Westly

Honk* Honk* till we meet again,
